What do students say

I don’t think I will ever forget this group of people from all around the world (USA, Japan, Hungary, France, Panama, Turkey, Israel, South Korea and Cyprus).  It was such a nice, communicative and relaxed group of people and in addition, they were really eager to learn Czech!!!  Although being grown ups, they went to ’school’ every day.

The level of students was not on the same , but they tried to help eachother alot. For me it was again a good practice in managing multi-level groups.  Again it showed that this does not need to cause issues as long as the group works together in a creative and supportive  way.

We worked with the Step by step book, but we also used lots of other materials and texts to enrich the lessons.

I’m looking forward to hearing the opinions of the students.

You can spend a great time together even learning such a difficult language as Czech!

If people really want  (and the teacher is very tough :)) 100 hours of Czech language can bring great results!

Great, hardworking, rellaxed people who came to Prague to study Erasmus and wanted to get to know not only  Czech language but also Czech culture.

The culture program was again very interesting,  we met lots of interesting Czech people eg. David Černý, Jiří Suchý, Jarek Nohavica.

Funny but tough lessons were spiced with singing and theatre.

Czech was the main language also during the walks through Prague, or canoe trip.

Hodně štěstí s češtinou!

Two and half months with this group of 8 people was for me an interesting and challenging  experience. I think this group was a nice mix.
We really enjoyed working together, eventhough not everyone was on the same level of  Czech.
The main goal of all students was to talk a lot in Czech. Thanks to discussing some interesting topics students naturally extended their  vocabulary but in the meantime they realized that we had to “refresh” the grammar a bit.
Based on the wish of students we also covered some advanced grammar (conditionals, conjunctions, aspect, prepositions).
Hopefully we will have the chance to continue together in the next evening course in Albertov again.

Note: It’s funny to realize that the biggest motivation for taking language studies is having a “czech girlfriend”…

Kristyna.

Albertov has been the place where Asia met America. Five nationalities in this class (a mixed group of young Chinese,  Vietnamese, Korean, Turkish and Brazilian ) meet in Prague to learn the basics of Czech up to A1 level. It turned out to be tough work for me and also for my students. Some even had difficulty to read and write in Latin alphabet. But now they are all able to  read, write and pronounce basic words on A1 level.  They now know basic phrases and are able to  talk in “broken Czech” about themselves and common topics. They have managed to use past and future tense.

It was hard work, both teacher and students did their best. I’ve been patient and the students were strong. We had quite some fun together and studied in a playful (but strict) atmosphere. It has been a great learning experience for myself and I will definitely remember this group.

Five hours a day for five months. This nicely mixed group of 14 dedicated students from 8 different countries will manage to go beyond the  basics of Czech language and develop communicative skills on A1 level.
Traditional program following the syllab, book Communicative Czech,  and controlled by month tests is being mixed with active learning activities. We will manage to use base of czech declination and conjugation in lively situations. We will be able to express ourseleves in basic topics and follow not very complicated conversation with czech native speaker.

This group of 12 people will be able to understand Czech speakers and react in not very complicated situations. In nice and relaxed atmosphere the Czech Step By Step was a perfect guide to basic level of Czech language.
